Getting started
What is Blyss?
Blyss is a daily mood check-in app for small groups of friends. Each day, you log how you're feeling on a scale of 1 to 5. Your group sees the moods, you support each other through anonymous notes and streaks. No strangers, no public feeds, no scrolling.
Is Blyss free?
Yes. All the core features — mood logging, groups, anonymous notes, streaks, daily reminders — are free. We may add an optional Pro tier later with extra features, but the essential experience will always be free.
How do I create a group?
After signing up, tap "Create a group" and give it a name. Blyss will generate a unique invite code you can share with up to 7 friends. Once they join with the code, you're all set.
How do I join an existing group?
Get the invite code from a friend who's already in the group. After signing up, tap "Join a group" and paste the code. You'll be added immediately.
How many people can be in a group?
Groups are capped at 8 members. This is intentional — real check-ins happen in small groups, not feeds. If you want to keep in touch with more friends, you can create multiple groups.
Can I be in more than one group?
Yes. You can be in up to 2 groups at the same time. Switch between them using the group switcher at the top of the app.
Using the app
How does mood logging work?
Each day, tap the Log tab and pick how you're feeling on a scale from 1 (Low) to 5 (Great). You can optionally add a short note (up to 280 characters). Your group sees your mood, but only members of your group can see it — never anyone else.
What are the mood levels?
- 1 — Low: Having a tough day
- 2 — Meh: Not great, not terrible
- 3 — Okay: Pretty average day
- 4 — Good: Feeling solid
- 5 — Great: On top of the world
Can I edit a mood after logging it?
Yes. Open today's mood from the Log tab and tap "Update mood". You can change the score or note up until the end of the day. Past days are locked once they're over.
What are anonymous notes?
If a friend logs a low mood (1 or 2), you can send them a short anonymous supportive note from the group view. They'll see the note but not who sent it. It's a way to offer encouragement without making it feel formal or awkward.
How do streaks work?
Your streak counts how many consecutive days you've logged a mood. Miss a day and the streak resets to zero. Streaks are personal — you see your own and your group sees theirs.
Can I send a poke?
Yes. If a group member hasn't logged their mood today, you can send them a friendly nudge to remind them. They'll get a push notification.
Account and settings
How do I change my display name or emoji?
Go to Settings → Profile and tap to edit your display name or change your emoji avatar. Changes save instantly and your group will see the new name.
How do I change my email or password?
Open Settings → Account. You can update your email address or change your password from there. For email changes, we'll send a verification link to the new address.
How do I leave a group?
Open the group from the Settings tab, scroll to the bottom and tap "Leave group". You'll be removed immediately and your past mood data in that group will be deleted. This action can't be undone, but you can always rejoin if a group member sends you the invite code again.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, mood history, group memberships, and any anonymous notes you've sent. The action is irreversible. For full details, see our account deletion page.
How do I disable notifications?
Open Settings → Notifications in Blyss to toggle daily reminders and group notifications. You can also manage permissions in your device settings under iOS Settings → Blyss → Notifications, or Android Settings → Apps → Blyss → Notifications.
Privacy and safety
Who can see my mood data?
Only the members of your groups. Blyss has no public feeds, no friend suggestions, and no way for strangers to find or follow you. Your mood data is visible only to people you've invited into a group.
Are anonymous notes really anonymous?
Yes. When you send an anonymous support note, the recipient sees only the message — not your name, profile, or any identifier. Only you (the sender) know which note you sent.
Is my data sold or shared with advertisers?
No. Blyss has no advertising SDKs and does not sell your data to third parties. We use Google Firebase for backend infrastructure but your personal data is never sold or used for advertising. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
How do I report a concern?
For general feedback or app issues, use our contact form. For child safety concerns, email safety@blyssapp.com directly. See our Child Safety Standards page for more.
Troubleshooting
I'm not getting notifications
Three things to check:
- Open Settings → Notifications in Blyss and confirm reminders are on
- Check your phone's system settings: iOS Settings → Blyss → Notifications (or Android Settings → Apps → Blyss → Notifications) — make sure they're allowed
- Check your phone isn't in Do Not Disturb / Focus mode
If notifications still aren't arriving, get in touch and we'll help.
I forgot my password
On the login screen, tap "Forgot password" and enter your email. We'll send a reset link to your inbox. Check spam if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes.
My friends can't see my moods
Make sure you've actually logged a mood today (tap the Log tab). Your group can only see moods that have been logged. Also confirm you're both in the same group — open the group view from Settings to check member list.
The app is crashing or behaving strangely
Try these steps in order:
- Close and reopen the app
- Check for updates in the App Store or Play Store
- Restart your phone
- If the issue persists, get in touch with us and tell us what you were doing when the crash happened
